4月10日雅思G类作文考题及范文

There is a trend that more and more people live on their own, what is the reason, and do you think that is a good trend or not.

The trend that an increasing number of people living independently has gained popularity, which sparked off a contentious discussion over the root cause of this phenomenon followed by the pros and cons of this tendency.

It is a widely held perception that recent rs’ economic boom increases the amount of people’s money at their own disposal, in conjunction with their recognition that a dwelling place of their own may help to establish their sense of safety and belonging as well as their ascending awareness of privacy. Consequently, a considerable amount of people flood to live independently far away from their friends and other family members, which trend procures both upsides and downsides.

Some people, who are in favor of the idea that it is beneficial for people to live independently, assert that people living on their own brings about a significant number of merits. Initially, it is clear evident that people living geographically independently add no extra burden to their parents. So intensive is people’s daily life that those who have infants may probably spare no time for attending their kids who are more likely to be taken care by their grandparents, which inevitably conduces more burdens to the elderly. By contrast, this trend may be rewarding for the old to have a placid life. Subsequently, people living financially independently have a higher likelihood of becoming successful in their future life. Seeing the fact that people are having fewer children than they used to, a sizeable percentage of children are being spoiled in the manner of being afforded with sufficient financial support. Conversely, being financially independent, children are widely considered superior in terms of the capability of becoming successful.

Such a substantial number of merits does this trend bring about that a host of people turn blind to the demerits it gives rise to, which is apparently erroneous. In the first place, people’s living independently may probably result in conflicts and misunderstandings among colleagues, friends and even family members. This, in the perspective of socialists, may engender a series of social problems including isolation among people, which leads to the deterioration of family bond, friends’ circle and unity of a nation. In the second place, not only does it contribute to the aggravation of social network, but it may also be detrimental to the elderly’ life. It is a commonly shared convention that an overwhelming number of parents tend to feel lonely without their children accompanying with them, which may also account for an array of psychological problems, including autism, phobia and depression are so prevalent among the old.

Conclusively, numerous as the benefits that this trend brings about may be, however, by no means should people lose sight of the drawbacks it conduces to. Overall, this trend can be taken as beneficial as practical on the condition that frequent contacts and visits should be given sufficient attention.
